Blog

8th June 2013

It’s been a while since I blogged. The reason is, quite simply, that I’ve been incredibly busy - as a result, I’m really not quite sure where the first half of this year has gone, but as well as the usual trips I make in the first quarter - Cornwall, Devon, Dartmoor and so on - I’ve also been to Iceland and Northumberland. In Iceland, I was leading a Northern Lights tour for Tatra photography. Although we could have had better weather, we were lucky enough to see one fantastic aurora display at the start of the tour and a moderate one right at the end. Here are a couple of my favourite shots from the week.

Dawn 2 Dusk Photography will be running an Iceland workshop in February next year, so keep an eye on the website for announcements.

In Northumberland, Ross Hoddinott and I were researching locations for another new workshop. As you can see from the pictures below, we had fantastic conditions during the week we were there and were absolutely blown away by how beautiful the landscape is in that part of the country. We’re really looking forward to returning in 2014 to run 2 back-to-back workshops - again, keep an eye on the Dawn 2 Dusk website for details.

Editorial work has also kept me busy. As well as continuing to contribute regular articles for Diigital SLR magazine and Landscape Photography Magazine, I’m now also writing for PhotoPlus and Digital Photographer, for whom I’m writing a monthly column.

I’ve also had more one-to-ones this year than ever before. I’m pretty much booked up through till the end of July and am now taking bookings for September and later on in the year. If you’re looking to improve your landscape photography skills, please get in touch and check availability.

I don’t generally run 1-2-1 workshops during August, as the light is harsh for much of the day and the large numbers of visitors to the Dorset coast can make photography difficult. However, this year, I have decided to run a short series of ‘Evening light’ workshops, taking advantage of the light at the end of the day, when there are fewer people at the locations. Keep an eye on the website and my facebook page - details will be announced soon.

Well, that’s about all the news for now... I’ll try not to leave it quite so long before I post again.
