Workshops

Along with fellow professional outdoor photographer, Ross Hoddinott, I run Dawn 2 Dusk Photography – specializing in 3-, 2- and 1-day workshops based in various locations in the South West of England. Ross and I have reputations as two of the UK's leading landscape photographers and together, we have an intimate knowledge of the West Country – not only knowing the most popular and celebrated viewpoints, but the region's ‘hidden gems’ also. Through years of experience we know just when to visit which location, depending on the season, weather and light…
On a Dawn 2 Dusk Photography workshop, you will join us on location for practical, in-the-field tuition. The number of participants is restricted to 12 to ensure the workshop always remains friendly, relaxed and personal. Also, the advantage of having two leaders is that you can guarantee that either myself (a Canon user) or Ross (a Nikon user) will always be nearby when you need advice or a professional opinion – regardless of whether you shoot film or digital, are a beginner or experienced.

Other Workshops
For the last few years, I have also been running my own workshops. 2010 sees a few changes to the way these are organised.
I will now be running these in association with Dorset photographer Tony Blake and the maximum group number will now be 8, meaning an improved tutor to participant ratio of 1 to 4. A packed lunch will also be included in the price.
To enable these improvements, the price for the 2010 workshops is £120.00. This is the first price increase since I began running these workshops.
Everything else about the workshops remains the same, i.e.
- They take place on Saturdays
- We meet (time depends on season) at Quarr Gallery, Swanage, for coffee and a short briefing
- The day is spent in the field , typically at 3 different locations, shooting until dusk (weather depending)
- There is a dawn shoot on Sunday
- Transport between locations is included
As well as acting as a guide to the locations, I am available for guidance and help on any areas of landscape photography, including composition, metering, use of filtration and so on. I also set exercises specifically designed to help develop your ability to 'see' shots and improve your technical ability. Both digital and film users are catered for - I have experience of both media. Transport between locations and a packed lunch are provided, but please note that accommodation is not included.
If you require help with finding accommodation, please let me know.
